Treating autism with homeopathy

Homeopathic remedies have proven successful in the treatment of some cases of autism and autism spectrum disorders (ASD).

Every person is unique, and an autistic individual is no exception. Therefore, homeopathic treatment and the success of those remedies will also be very specific to the recipient. What may work well for one or more patients may not work for your child, which is why you need the guidance of a certified homeopath.

How does homeopathy help?
Homeopathy helps the body achieve balance and healing, regardless of the symptoms being presented.

What homeopathic remedy do you recommend for autism?
No one remedy cures autism. Rather, homeopathic remedies and dosages are chosen based on how closely they match your child’s symptoms because homeopathy operates on the principle of “like treating like.” Very often a person will need a series of remedies, used according to the sets of symptoms which appear along the way.

Is there an over-the-counter or home-treatment option?
There are a number of changes you can make to your child’s environment and diet, based on symptoms you observe. Some children may be sensitive to gluten or milk products, or they may have actual food allergies, to these and other foods. However, homeopathic remedies for autism and ASD should be administered under the supervision of a homeopath. Dosages will need to change as your child improves and remedies may need to change if your child fails to respond as expected.

Will I have to give my child shots?
No. Homeopathic remedies are available in liquid (drops) and pill forms.

Do vaccines cause autism?
It is a complicated answer. The general answer is NO. However, most research is done with large populations of children, and when we look at the incidence of autism in the general population of vaccinated children, the rates will not appear significantly different. However, some children may have a genetic, or toxic exposure induced, mitochondrial dyfunction, and could be affected in ways that normal children are not.

Overall, vaccines are important for public health, but there are risks in those vulnerable children. Currently, there is no simple way to identify such children. Hopefully, research can be done looking at populations that are vulnerable, due to metabolic vulnerability, and assess the incidence of autism, or neurological disorders, in those children.

How often will I be giving my child medicine?
Your homeopath will determine frequency along with dosage. Usually, you can expect less frequent dosing than conventional medicine.

Can I try both conventional medicine and homeopathy?
Except for a possible worsening of symptoms after the initial dose, there are no harmful side effects or toxins lingering in the body because of homeopathic remedies. It is safe to combine homeopathic treatment for autism with conventional medicine.
