How do you know a homeopathic remedy is safe?

Look for “HPUS” after the name of your chosen homeopathic remedy.HPUS label

The Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia of the United States (HPUS) is the official list of homeopathic products that comply with both the FDA guidelines for homeopathic remedies and the testing and standards set by the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia Convention of the United States. Each remedy earns the initials “HPUS” after its name and a listing in the HPUS, now officially called the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia Revision Service/HPRS.

Remedies, products, and drugs in the listing are
• Safe and effective
• Prepared according to the standards of the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia of the United States
• In compliance with documentation procedures required by the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia of the United States
• Not hiding any known toxicity
• Well-documented in publications prior to 1962, controlled double blind clinical studies, and/or clinical use with proven results
• Following clearly established rules for production, marketing, and selling
• Related in some way to known homeopathic principles

Manufacturers of drugs that do not make this list must produce clinical evidence that will convince the FDA that their product is, in fact, a homeopathic remedy. This is to prevent false labeling of prescription drugs that have not met the testing requirements.

Be safe. Look for the HPUS after the homeopathic remedy name on the label or container.
