Learn the signs of a stroke.
Symptoms appear very suddenly as blood flow is cut off to part of the brain. Depending on what area of the brain is affected, there may be
• Confusion
• Dizziness
• Severe headache, especially with no known cause
• Hiccups
• One side of the body is suddenly numb, weak, or unable to move
• Pain in the face, arms, or legs
• Slurred speech or an inability to communicate at all
• Blurry vision, double vision, or loss of vision in one eye without cause
• Difficulty walking

Do the FAST test.
If you suspect someone is having a stroke, remember F-A-S-T because a timely diagnosis is critical.
    Face droops on one side when s/he smiles
    Arm falls to his/her side even if he/she wants to keep the arm raised
    Speech sounds slurred and/or words are jumbled
    Time—if any of the above are True, call 9-1-1; get help in first 3 hours
