Homeopathic cough and cold remedies


Homeopathy can reduce the severity of coughs and colds. It can also strengthen your body to lessen your likelihood of becoming ill at all.

Homeopathy works to restore balance and healing to your whole body, making it less susceptible to illnesses. When you do come down with a cold, a runny nose, a cough, or other respiratory symptoms of infection, your homeopath will match one or more of the following homeopathic remedies with your specific symptoms:
Aconite for the early stages of a cold, cough, or sore throat with or without fever
Antimonium tartaricum for a unproductive cough, despite lots of mucus, that makes eating and sleeping extremely difficult
Bryonia for a dry cough that racks the whole body
Coccus cacti for paroxysmal coughing with scanty expectoration
Phosphorus for a night cough especially if accompanied with hoarseness and a thirst for cold drinks

Even though it is best to find the one medicine that most closely fits your symptoms, over-the-counter homeopathic medicines for cold, flu, or cough can be helpful and worth a try. If the homeopathic medicine you might need is in a combination, the medicine can work. If the medicine doesn’t work within three or four dosages, taken every 2-4 hours, it probably won’t work. If symptoms worsen, you might need conventional care. Make sure you consult your primary care doctor and get evaluated promptly.

You can also help your body stay healthy or heal by doing the following:
• Avoid your triggers if a sensitivity to cold causes you to start sniffling and sneezing
• Consume extra Vitamin C
• Don’t try to tough it out when you are sick—stay home, rest, and hydrate
• Drink at least 8 cups of water each day
• Eat your fruits and vegetables just like your mother told you
• Sleep 7-8 hours each night, preferably at the same time each and every night
• Wash your hands frequently when at work and after being out in public
• Wear warm clothes and outerwear, including a hat and gloves when you go out
